Next Wednesday we have PSAT testing for freshmen and sophomore classes. Our main academic building is three stories: First floor is freshmen. Second is sophomore and junior. Third is seniors and a few juniors. So where will the freshmen and sophomore be taking this test? The third floor. And which teachers will proctor? The third floor. So, all of the seniors will have to go sit in the gym and have a study hall for FIVE periods (out of a 7 period day). We are displaced for a test that doesn’t even apply to us....

I’d say skip, but then again I had perfect attendance in high school.

The only reason I did was because the school had a history of giving students a $500 savings bond for having perfect attendance. The year I graduated? I got a fucking plaque. The year after I graduated? Back to the $500 savings bond. Fuck that school.

Lame! We just got to skip final exams if we had good attendance. If you had an A you could miss 3 days, B-2, C-3. So it was worth it for me because I could get a free week off during exam week.

The school I teach at administers the PSAT to Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors. The Seniors have a flag football game and some other “fun” activities in the morning.

I think they do that so the freshman teachers aren’t proctoring the freshman students where they might help them cheat.

It could be worse. I always liked those days because it meant no classes. I’d usually just hang out with my XC coach in his room (he had a couch). Or just talk to teachers. My teacher’s were all pretty cool if you treated them like humans.

That’s better than my school. We’ve only got one floor and we’re departmentalized, so a) I’ve got to cross the school a total of about 6 times throughout the day (which is really far because, again, we’re only one floor) and b) all grades are actively mixed together.

Oh, and we've got a delayed opening because of PSATs.

We don’t have that, and we don’t have a lunch period, but if you are on a Varsity of Junior Varsity team you get to skip the last period! Oh, and you can leave school after you take your exam.

I’m the only freshman taking it at my school, because advanced.

Mine is divided into Math and Science on the second floor, and the rest on the first.

I forget what the requirement is but I think you have to have at least 3 honors courses as a freshman to take it...

That’s good. My school requires you to be a sophomore taking Algebra 2. I am a freshman taking Algebra 2 (advanced freshmen take Geomtry, regular take Alg 1), so I got an exception.
